COORDINATION AND FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF THE ROUND TABLE FOR IMMIGRATION AND INTEGRATION AGAINST RACISM
The project "Coordination of the Round Table for Immigration and Integration, Against Racism" is the office of the committee and controls and organizes the ongoing work.
The Round Table was founded in 1993 as an initiative by the Christian churches, the synagogue community in Magdeburg and the German Trade Union Federation of Saxony-Anhalt to combat racism and xenophobia.
Since 1993 the members of the round table have:
- in their hearings in rural districts and independent cities of Saxony-Anhalt, political decision-makers for the lives of foreigners and migrants were brought together and, in particular, informed about the life situation of asylum seekers in the region and their accommodation,
- Through visiting asylum seekers' homes and encounters with foreign citizens, the situation of migrants is explored, their problems are brought up, advice on how to solve them and
- political issues of migration, immigration and integration in the state parliament with representatives of the political groups are discussed.
